AirGorilla was one of the most interesting online travel sites we reviewed. In addition to booking the usual airfare, hotel room and car rental, AirGorilla also offers youth hostels, tours, safaris and GPS rental. Compared to the other online travel sites we reviewed, at $37.93 per ticket, AirGorilla has the highest service fee.

Additional Features:  

All flights booked on AirGorilla are eligible for frequent flyer miles, if you are a member with that airline. There is also a small section for last minute deals to various places around the country. They offer travel insurance and overseas medial guidance. You can also get group rate quotes. Since you don’t have to register to make reservations on AirGorilla, there is no way to manage your itinerary or get newsletter updates.

Booking Options:  

With AirGorilla you can book airfare, hotel, cars, cruises, activities, trains, limos, safaris, tours, youth hostels, B&Bs and more. This service had more booking choices than any other site we reviewed.

AirGorilla charges a $37.93 service fee for every airfare ticket bought using their services. This does not include government fees which changes with every ticket itinerary. Additionally, these fees are not displayed in your price results. Before you fill in your personal information, double check your final price. We found that sometimes the base price may be cheaper than other travel websites; however, the fees and taxes make AirGorilla more expensive in the end.

They also charge $17 for paper tickets and will not make itinerary changes. All changes need to be made through the airline, hotel, rental service, etc.

When searching for flights, hotels, cars and cruises, your booking options are adequate, but not exceptional. You cannot narrow your search to non–stop flights, make your dates flexible or search nearby airports. Hotel and car searches are more limited. You can only narrow your search within a city or by hotel name; however, you can choose your amenities. You can search for a car by type and rental company, only after your initial city search.

Resources:  

AirGorilla provides several traveler resources including news and information about security, maps, passport information, a currency converter, airline contact list and cruising information. Additionally, there are blogs available for users to post their thoughts and experiences about trips and vacations they’ve had.

Ease of Use/Support:  

AirGorilla’s website is easy to use and navigate. They include a comprehensive FAQ section, phone and email support. They answered our emails within a day.

Summary:  

Although AirGorilla is one of the most expensive online travel sites we reviewed, it has the greatest selection of specialty reservations. The additional fees may be worth it if you are looking for an easy way to search youth hostels, bed and breakfasts and safaris.
