Side Step is a simple travel search engine. You simply place in your travel requirement and Side Step will scour the various online travel websites for you including our top three services, Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz. Although, Side Step is an excellent place to start when looking for airfare, hotels and car rentals we found it unfortunate that after the search results came up and we clicked on our desired flight and we were redirected to Orbitz’s homepage then had to reenter our search information. Then the result price was different from what Side Step found.

Side Step searches for air, hotel and car rental rates; they do not search for cruises. If you are looking for a travel search engine that will search cruise ships see Smarter Travel.

Side Step was the only travel search engine site we reviewed that would search multiple websites for activities. In our search they found sports games, museums and concerts from various ticket vendors. Side Step also has a great selection of travel guides provided by Frommer’s.

Since this is not a travel web site, but a travel search engine no money is ever exchanged through Side Step. All purchases are made through their affiliate partners like Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz.

We found it frustrating that after Side Step produced the flight and hotel search that the corresponding travel prices were wrong. For a travel search engine that stays up–to–date see Kayak.
